I’ve never really been a fan Tempura Seafood, although I’ve probably only eaten it two or three times and that was when I was out. But tomorrow I’m having family over for dinner and I’m serving a fresh seafood platter with home-made crusty bread and ciabatta., But I wanted something hot so I decided to do tempura. However, my granddaughter is gluten intolerant so I thought I would give this a try. Absolutely, the best tempura I have ever eaten without a doubt. I cooked some calamari and prawns and they were so delicious. Just the right amount of salt, beautifully light and crispy but succulent on the inside Thank you so much. The only thing I changed was to use egg white as opposed to a whole egg. 10 out of 10 from me. I’m going to do some tempura veggies as well now because it’s so good.

Glad I did because there's a lot of batter left over. I used prawns, mushrooms, zucchini & spring onions. I'm not at all someone who 'enjoys' cooking but during the pandemic, I totally stopped getting food from restaurants, so when I had a craving, I'd google recipes & prepare it myself. This recipe was easy to follow & came together quickly inspire of thinking it was complicated at first. I bought ponzu sauce in a bottle from grocery store & the meal was delicious! Tempura was light & crispy & the veggies were hot & soft inside. I used frozen prawns that I defrosted- maybe I should not have defrosted them because the texture came out weird- kind of dry- but nothing to do with this recipe. Next time, I'll try frozen prawns since I always have a bag in my freezer.

This was incredible! Everyone loved it. We’re thinking to add a bit of sugar to the batter and do funnel cakes. It has that light texture. I also want to make egg roll filling, put it in the freezer a bit and dip and fry. So so good!

In reply to Marsha Colegrove.

I used half brown rice flour and half freeee self raising flour mix and mine worked beautifully and tasted delicious. Very impressed.

I wouldn't, the carbonation would go flat.

Adds carbonation.
